Dance
Our school offers dance groups to support student learning. We engage an external company called Groove Nation to run our dance groups. Our dance groups participate in school, local and state events throughout the year.
About dance
The 2026 Dance Ensembles will be taught by qualified and experienced teachers from Groove Nation and supervised by your school’s teachers. Students will attend weekly lessons that will involve a warmup, working on technique and expression and putting together a performance routine.
Groove Nation
In 2026, Groove Nation will be organising costumes for students at the cost of $90.00/student.
Program commitment
The program will run from Week 5 Term 1 - Week 5 Term 3 2026.
Your child’s group will be performing at a variety of events, which will be confirmed in 2026 by the school. As such, involvement in the ensemble requires full program commitment and attendance at all scheduled lessons and performances.
Please be aware that all performers need to pay for lessons, costumes & transport by bus to and from performance venues.

Groove Nation accepts Creative Kids Vouchers. If you have a voucher to use, please:
Local Festivals
Each year our school enters the Sutherland Shire Schools Music Festival. This festival combines over 50 of our local schools in the area together and they perform choral pieces and dance items over 2.5 weeks. These performances are usually held in August.
Groove Nation also hosts a Combined Schools concert for students who learn from their company. We join with other local schools in the area to perform our dance items. These performances are usually held in October.
State Events
At Jannali East Public School we believe that the Creative Arts are important for all our students. We often participate in State based festivals such as The Schools Spectacular (every second year), Southern Stars, Pulse Alive, State Dance Festival and workshops provided by The Arts Unit.
