Film

Our school offers film to support student learning. Each year our classes choose to engage with the program or sometimes students are selected to be part of a film group. We participate in school, local and state events throughout the year.

Film By The Sea

Our local event is called Film By The Sea. Film By festivals are open to all Kindergarten to Year 11 public school students.

They are an opportunity for students to showcase their talents in filmmaking. Schools can participate in the festival as a class entry or submit films created by individual students or groups of students. There are no fees to participate in any Film By festival or competition. Schools are eligible to submit multiple films and must adhere to certain guidelines.

In 2025 our school entered two films. The Magic of Books and Kokoda Footsteps of the Brave. Both films were nominated to be part of the festival and the films were shown on the big screen at Event Cinema Miranda.

Film By Invitation

In 2025 our school was nominated as one of the best in the state. Our films The Lost Jumper and The Universal Kindness Checker were both nominated. The Lost Jumper achieved 3rd place in the state.

State Drama Festival

In 2025 the film The Magic of Books was nominated to be one of only 3 films chosen in NSW to be shown as part of the State Drama Festival. The film was shown at the Seymour Centre as part of the festival.

SpecFest FilmBy

In 2025 the first SpecFest Film By was held. The organisers of Schools Spectacular reached out to our school to ask if our Film Kokoda-Footsteps of the Brave could be included as part of the collection as they had recently seen our film on the Channel 9 News on Remembrance Day. Our film was showcased every hour on the hour at Schools Spectacular and was viewed by more than 10,000 people.

Teaching Resources

Our film Mumma Bear's Bad Hair Day was chosen by The Arts Unit to help teachers across NSW learn how to make a film from start to finish. Created with the support of our teacher, Kyle Hurst, it’s now part of the Film By teaching resources and a step-by-step guide for making a short film.
